Belgian man loses wife in woods playing 'nude' hide-and-seek

BRUSSELS, August 15 (RIA Novosti) - A Belgian man reported his wife missing to police in Mechelen, south Belgium, after she got lost while the pair were playing "nude" hide-and-seek in local woods, national media reported on Friday.

The naked woman, who turned up a short while after her husband had filed the missing person report, told police that she become disorientated after wandering too far into the undergrowth as she tried to find a place to hide.

She then said she realized she was lost when she could not find her way back to where she had left her clothes.

Belgian police said the couple had not committed any offense and the reunited pair were free to carry on with their game.

Nudists by the hundreds turn out for Vancouver beach run

VANCOUVER — Hundreds of dedicated Vancouver 'naturists' turned out at Vancouver's famed nude beach Sunday to take part in the 12th annual Wreck Beach Bare Buns Run. The five-kilometre run around the sun-drenched beach below the University of B.C. was a fundraiser and publicity event for the Wreck Beach Preservation Society, according to spokesperson Judy Williams. She says the event is held for people to "celebrate their bodies and the joy of Wreck Beach and the joy of social naturism." Williams says that celebration will continue on Aug. 23 with "Body Acceptance Day" so "people can start discounting body shame that they're raised with."

She says it's a way of celebrating the body. For 64-year-old runner Walther Haberl, Sunday's event was about shedding pretensions.
"You see every movement in a person's body. I enjoy this more than anything else," he says. "I had lots of fun.
"I appreciate what people are doing here. We need to do it a bit longer." The crowd also ran to the younger side of the population as well.
Ten-year-old Kevin Kunimoto says he'll be back to do the run again next year. "I just wanted to see how it was," he says. "I ran all by myself."

Occasionally, the epithet 'textile' was uttered during the event. That's the word the beach buffs use when referring to those in clothes.
Registrar Judy Ellery says people come from all over the world to take part in the run. "Last year, we had a whole family show up from Hong Kong," she says.

She says the run is part of a group of three that includes similar events in Issaquah and Spokane, Wash. The society has also been working to fight the development of buildings on top of the cliffs above the beach. The society's concerns also include cliff erosion, potential impact on bird populations, the privacy of nude sunbathers on the beach and the view from the beach itself.

Part of the funds raised from the day's event will support that fight, Williams says. Last year, the American Association for Nude Recreation listed Wreck Beach as nirvana for nudists. It was ranked second on an international listing of clothing optional beaches.

Pa. judge dismisses streaking charges against two students

Monday August 18, 2008, 5:44 AM
A Pennsylvania judge dismissed a lewdness charge against a Penn State student who joined an annual naked run held to usher in spring finals.

The ruling follows a similar one issued in a case involving a New Jersey man.

Centre County Judge Bradley Lunsford said there was no evidence that Elizabeth Burke "affronted or alarmed" anyone or intended to do so in the annual Mifflin Streak just after midnight May 5. He dismissed the misdemeanor open lewdness count and a summary disorderly conduct charge on Friday.

Burke's attorney, Stacy Parks Miller, also got charges dismissed against another streaker, 20-year-old Daniel Mozer of Cherry Hill, at his preliminary hearing. She argued both incidents were just "harmless episodes of youthful exuberance."

But Centre County District Attorney Michael Madeira says he may appeal the ruling on Burke and refile charges against Mozer.

DANIEL RADCLIFFE - RADCLIFFE: 'I'M NOT SCARED ABOUT NUDE SCENES'

DANIEL RADCLIFFE is preparing to bare all in the final film of the HARRY POTTER franchise - and insists he isn't scared about stripping off on screen.
The 19 year old was required to disrobe on stage when he starred in the dramatic play Equus in London's West End last year (07) - a role he'll soon reprise on Broadway.
And he insists the experience has given him the confidence to appear naked in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which starts filming next year (09).
He says, "At first I thought I'd have pants (underwear) on for the scene. Apparently not.
"But I've sort of done that before on stage. It's all old hat now, really."

Top stars we love to loathe

....Richard Hatch, Survivor: Borneo
He outplayed, outlasted and outwitted everyone -- all the while slithering about the island buck naked and making everyone sick in the process. His naked strategy paid off: he became the first Survivor and was awarded a million dollars and a place in pop culture. As the tubby, naked fisherman of his tribe, Hatch was not only methodical in his deception but also incredibly arrogant. On Day 1 he told his fellow castaways that the million-dollar cheque was already made out in his name. When he took part in Survivor: All-Stars he smuggled matches onto the island by hiding them in a tiny container up his -- you get the idea. As a result, all contestants are now strip searched....

The race to be the fourth party matters more than you think

.....The BNP's recent local election results were surprisingly good given that the party is in schism. Last year, a 'Real BNP' faction formed in rebellion against party leader Nick Griffin, who is accused of failing to modernise, being 'arrogant' (just like in ordinary politics) and deploying the 'security department' of the party to burgle rebel members' homes (not so like ordinary politics). Richard Barnbrook, who, as a London Assembly member, is the BNP's highest elected official, has a different challenge building a substantial far right following. He has to live down HMS Discovery: A Love Story, a film he made in 1989 that includes scenes of naked men frolicking and a soundtrack of apparently gay erotic poetry. 'It was an art film, end of story. Not a bloody porn film,' he says.....

Harry Potter Scared by Horse

A naked Harry Potter has scared off the movie "Harry Potter."

Warner Bros. has announced moving its sixth Potter film, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," from Nov. 21, 2008, to July 17, 2009. The reason? Officially, there is no reason, except that "a spot opened on the summer schedule."

That's not much of a reason. The real story? Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe will be right in the middle of his sensational, highly publicized run on Broadway in the play, "Equus." Radcliffe appears naked in the play, on stage, and has sex in it as well. That's not the image Warner Bros. wants associated with bespectacled Harry, who remains chaste and virginal.

Indeed, posters for Equus are up all over New York, of Radcliffe's naked torso superimposed on a horse's head. This is not the sort of thing that's taught at Hogwarts. For the movie to open on Nov. 21, Radcliffe would have to do publicity entailing answering questions about blinding horses and having sex with them vs. flying around and making potions.

Warner Bros. does not want this scenario. By the time "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" debuts, "Equus" will either have concluded its run or Radcliffe will have completed his contract. And there will be little mention of any horsing around.

Police: teens ran naked in street at underage drinking party

Police: teens ran naked in street at underage drinking party - 8/18/2008
August 18, 2008 11:31 AM
PORTSMOUTH — A report of an underage drinking party with teens “running in the street naked” triggered a search led by a police dog and ended when two 15-year-olds were taken into protective custody.

Sgt. Michael Maloney said the incident was reported to police Saturday night by an Eastwood Drive resident who knew his neighbors were out of town. According to the public police log, the neighbor called the homeowner in New York and at 11:44 p.m. told police the teens were drinking and running in the street unclothed.

When officers got to the residence, one teen fled and a police dog from Rochester was called in to track his direction of travel, said Maloney. The scent led to a parent’s home in Rye, where the parent refused to allow police inside to search for her son, police say.

That teenager was eventually located at another location and he and another 15-year-old were taken into protective custody, said Maloney.

At 1:56 a.m., an officer was called to Portsmouth Regional Hospital “to help restrain an out of control juvenile” who was brought there from the same underage party, according to the public police log.

All of the minors involved will be processed through the confidential juvenile justice system.

Naked reveller sparks search, runs away

Friday, August 15, 2008

A stag do reveller sparked a search and rescue operation after he was stripped naked and jumped off a pier, the Coastguard said today.

At 2am today, members of the public alerted the Coastguard when they heard a man shouting for help at Ryde on the Isle of Wight.

The crew of a fishing boat found the man, who was naked, and were able to pluck him from the sea before dropping him off back at Ryde seafront.

A Solent Coastguard spokesman said: 'We received a report of a man shouting for help.

'It would appear that the man was on a stag do and had been stripped naked before going off the end of Ryde pier.

'He was picked up by a fishing vessel but it was not certain whether everyone was safe so quite a big search was carried out.

'He was very cold and said he had been on a stag do on the island. The fishermen dropped him off on Ryde beach and he was last seen running naked towards Ryde.'

'Obviously we were a bit worried about him catching hypothermia but we haven't been able to find him.'

The ignorant tight-ass club strikes again

Wednesday, 13 August 2008

Returning to a theme I touched on in my last post, the perniciously perverse American attitude toward sex is really beginning to get on my nerves. John Edwards admits to having had a fling with a woman not his wife, and people who would ordinarily be leaping to his defense against the Bible-thumpers and the Puritan wannabes are suddenly howling for his head because he was almost sorta-kinda-maybe the Democratic nominee frontrunner candidate for the presidency.

And now, via Towleroad, I hear that two wrestlers have been dismissed from the University of Nebraska team for "posing naked for videos and photographs on an Internet pornography site." The wrestling coach was quoted in the AP story as follows:

The history of behavior of these men, including the current matter, does not reflect the standard of excellence we aspire to on and off the mat. We have outstanding student-athletes in our program and we will move forward in a positive manner toward our goals.
I want to personally apologize for any embarrassment that may have been caused for our athletic department, the university and our fans.

The story further alleges that, along with a history of "past transgressions" in Lincoln that included underage drinking, trespassing, assault, and maintaining a disorderly house, the two violated an NCAA rule that, according to the Nebraska compliance director, "prohibits athletes from appearing in pictures for commercial use." I'm betting, however, that it has far more to do with the "embarrassment" that the coach alluded to than it does to any regulation--and, further, that the only reason anybody is or might possibly be embarrassed about this incident is that the two men appeared on a gay internet pornography site.

I haven't actually seen the photos or the videos that the two allegedly made (you can find the links at Towleroad, if you're curious). But from the descriptions of those photos and videos that I've read, it seems that all these young men did was to take off their clothes in front of a camera, display themselves in an aroused state, and then masturbate. That doesn't mean that either of them is gay. (Nor does it mean that either of them is heterosexual, though that would hardly be reason for anyone to be embarrassed about their behavior.) I did, however, actually take the trouble to download the NCAA's Division I rulebook (extremely large PDF file!), and looked up what I think are the rules the Nebraska director of compliance was referring to. And if the rules I saw are in fact the ones he's talking about, if I were his boss he'd be looking for another job right about now. Bylaw 12.5.2.1 states that, after becoming a student-athlete, an individual is ineligible for participation in intercollegiate athletics if s/he "(a) Accepts any remuneration for or permits the use of his or her name or picture to advertise, recommend or promote directly the sale or use of a commercial product or service of any kind; or (b) Receives remuneration for endorsing a commercial product or service through the individual’s use of such product or service." I don't claim to be an expert in the NCAA eligibility rules (though I do happen to know someone who is--and believe me, I'm going to be asking her about this situation), but as I read the text of that regulation, I'm hard-pressed (no pun intended) to see how it could possibly be construed to apply to the two wrestlers from Nebraska. As far as I know, neither athlete allowed his picture(s) to be used to advertise or promote the site in question. Neither do I see how simply appearing on a site could be construed as an endorsement of it, except to the limited extent that they chose to appear on that site and not any of the hundreds or thousands of others like it. (Which would, obviously, pose more than a little logistical problem.)

Furthermore, if the wrestlers in question had begun modeling for that site before they enrolled in college and started participating in intercollegiate athletics, it appears that the NCAA wouldn't have had the slightest problem with them continuing to do so afterward. Bylaw 12.5.1.3 states that as long as the individual started doing the work in question before becoming a student-athlete, got the job because of something other than his/her athletic ability, doesn't endorse the commercial product, and gets paid at a rate commensurate to his/her actual experience as a model or a performer and not because of any athletic ability, s/he may continue to be paid for the use of his/her name and/or picture, under the same or similar circumstances and will not thereby lose eligibility to participate in sports.

I think I'm on safe ground when I say that it's a foregone conclusion that college athletes masturbate. I think I'm also on safe ground when I say that it's an established fact that there are people in the world who enjoy watching that kind of thing--and also people in the world who enjoy being watched doing that kind of thing. I'm also reasonably sure that, as long as the individual(s) in question are legal adults and were not coerced, harassed, or put in duress to induce them to participate, that their participation was entirely legal.

So what, pray tell, is there here for anybody to be embarrassed about? And how might the fact that these wrestlers posed nude on a website that caters to gay men constitute anything that would not reflect the "standard of excellence" that Nebraska claims to want to aspire to "on and off the mat"? Same with the "history of behavior" that he alluded to. From my days as a graduate student in Boulder, I have a certain degree of familiarity with the behavior of athletes from the University of Nebraska, given that the Nebraska game was always a highlight lowlight of the football season. Indeed, if the behavior of the hordes of Nebraska fans and boosters that descended upon Boulder for every Nebraska game is any indication, a couple of busts for underage drinking and alcohol violations is chump change in comparison to the organized mayhem that always came to be associated with Cornhusker red in the mind of many Boulder denizens.

I'd be willing to bet as well that there is at least one amateur videotape or DVD of some Nebraska athlete having sex with his girlfriend(s) that's circulating somewhere on the internet--and that if it were to turn up tomorrow on a commercial website that catered to aficionados of heterosexual porn, the Nebraska athletic authorities would only smile, pat their charges affectionately and heterosexually on the ass, and say "Boys will be boys" or some such triviality. They might, to make it look good, suspend the player(s) in question from the team for a game or two, but I doubt he or they would lose eligibility or be dismissed from the team altogether.

That's not right. If it's "embarrassing" to the Nebraska image for two of its athletes to strut their stuff (without, to the best of my knowledge, revealing which school they attended) on a site that caters to gay men, it should be equally "embarrassing" for another athlete to do so on a site that catered to heterosexuals. Of course, my bigger argument is that it shouldn't be an embarrassment at all to acknowledge that young men do pleasure themselves, and that some of them are excited by the prospects of doing so on camera. As long as they aren't exposing themselves in the middle of the football field, or lurking in the bushes outside someone else's dorm room to do so, I don't have a problem with that. If they like to be watched and the people who are watching them knew that was what they'd be seeing when they clicked on a link or visited a particular site, I see it as no harm, no foul. Exhibitionism and voyeurism are only criminal when one or more of the parties thereto didn't consent or didn't know what s/he was getting into. Otherwise, it's all part and parcel of the varied and wonderful canvas of human sexuality.

I'd have thought that might actually be something that we taught in our universities. But apparently I'd be wrong.
